Is My Phone eSIM Compatible? How to Check
July 9, 2026 · 2 min read
Before buying a travel eSIM, confirm your phone supports it and is carrier-unlocked. Here is the fast way to check.
Two things matter for eSIM: your phone must have eSIM hardware, and it must be carrier-unlocked.
Quick check on iPhone
Go to Settings → General → About and look for "Available SIM" or an EID number. iPhone XS and newer support eSIM (except some mainland China models).
Quick check on Android
Open Settings and search "eSIM" or "SIM manager". If you can add an eSIM, you are good. Or dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Popular compatible devices
- iPhone XS, XR, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and newer
- Google Pixel 3 and newer
- Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, recent Z Fold/Flip
Is it unlocked?
If you bought your phone outright or finished a carrier contract, it is likely unlocked. If unsure, ask your carrier to confirm before you travel.
